Backup exec 11d R2 and Sql 2008 sp3

Hi All

I am having great issues backing up sql 2008 db and files with backup exec 11d. AOFO not used. Snapshot provider error. Backup just hangs and then eventually fails. A communications error occured with the resource(tested recource credentials before hand). I do a lot of sql backups, mostly remote and the sql agents are loaded. Is there maybe backup exec patches/updates to load to resolve issues.

BE11d does not support SQL 2008

Refer to SCL http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH50180

Hi,

Here's a bit more information than the above: BE 12.5 supports SQL 2008, but that's ancient. Your best bet is to look at upgrading to BE 2010 R3 at a minimum which will definitely support it. That's the only option you have in order to backup the SQL server.

Thanks!

Are there any specific hardware requierments for BE 2010 R3?

No. Not really any high end hardware is required. BE 2010 R3 should be good to run any supported OS with 4 GB RAM.

Thanks,
