Hi, All,

I saw some discussion about Backup Exec 2010 AVVI slow performance. I did experience same issue. Tech support really doesn't give much help, I want to try my luck here to see if anyone has fix the problem.

Here is my configuration

Backup server:

Dell PE2850 +Qlogic 2464 HBA insert on 8 Lane PCI-Express Slot (4 x4G FC port) + IBM DS5100. Windows 2008 Std 64bit SP2, 4G Memory.2x Xeon 2.8G Dual Core CPU.

3 local physical disks make a RAID 5 200G logical disk.

Staging disk is a 2.2T LUN (5x1T SATA FC drive create a RAID 6 Array)  present from SAN.

Staging disk format to 64k block size.

Windows firewall turn off, Antivirus software was removed

Backup Exec version: BE2010+Hotfix:348284,348315,355131,354451, AVVI Agent

ESX version: ESX4 U2, apply all update to June 10,2010

Here is my testing result

  1. ESX->TAPE (without GRT), 5GByte/min
  2. ESX->TAPE (With GRT turn on), 5GByte/min
  3. ESX-> staging disk(without GRT),3GByte/min
  4. ESX->staging Disk (with GRT), 700M/min
  5. Restore from tape->ESX virtual cente( without GRT) 200M/min
  6. Restore from tape->ESX virtual center ( with GRT) 100M/min
  7. Restor from TAPE->Staging Disk  with redirect to VMDK flat file,3G/min

I try both select VM from VCenter and direct from ESX server, for me, their performance are same.

I am runout all my ideas,Anybody has any clue for this issue?

I hope Symantec able to provide help , but I am really disappoint.

Thanks for any help......

Hi,

Did you find a solution for this? I've just started testing AVVI on BE 2010R2 and seeing a similar limit of 700MB/min when backing up to disk.

Thanks
