Backup exec 9.1 & SBS 2003 & DAT72

Hello.

I bought and install DAT72 to my SBS2003 server. There is five 4 mm tapes and one cleaning tape.

When attached it into the server I installed device drivers from HP, for tape library and for the tape.

I bought Backup Exec 9.1 and the library expansion.

I installed Backup Exec at the first time without its own drivers.

I dont't see any medium, I can't use the tape, cannot run backup jobs. Backup Exec pops up window, where is message about physical error on the device.

I uninstaled the software and reboot, install it for a second and allow to use Backup Exec drivers.

Nothing changes. I cant do anything.

Under the remote storage mmc snap-in I can see 5 free, not mounted and unlabelled tapes.

I can there in the mmc snap-in mount the tape and dismount it.

No tape media is visible to Backup Exec, both with mounted tape and dismounted one.

What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks.

David

Hello David,

Have you installed the latest VERITAS device drivers, if not then try the latest drivers:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/273853

I hope this helps.

Please verify if the exact make and model of the storage device is listed in the HCL(Hardware Compatibility List) from the following link:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/271383

If the drive is listed in Veritas HCL, then verify whether Veritas drivers are installed. Drivers other than Veritas driver may not work properly with Backup Exec.

Install and download the drivers as given in the previous reply.

Disable removable storage (RSM) service. In most of the cases, it has been seen that VERITAS device driver does not work properly with RSM. Please refer to the following technote:
