Hello All,

Since I have installed the RALUS Agent on a Redhat ES 4 for i386 I have a lot of softwrite errors on the tape. Backup job faild with the following error message

"Backup- \\server.domain.local\ An inconsistency was encountered on the storage media in HP 2.
V-79-57344-33994 - The data being read from the media is inconsistent "

If I look at the media status information, I can see 0 hardwrite errors, but 2200 softwrite errors on every backup since RALU installation.

Maybe is it possible to configure the buffer size on the RALUS agent?

BE Server 10.d 5629
RALUS 10.1 5629

Thank you in advance!

Hello,

Kindly refer to the below mentioned technote:

The error "The data being read from the media is inconsistent" (e00084ca HEX or a00084ca HEX) occurs when running a backup.

I'm running RALUS agent on Redhat w/ Backup Exec 10d on Server 2003.

Getting the exact same errors as stated in this thread. Only backups using the RALUS agent are failing.
Keep getting "The data being read from the media is inconsistent" Tried cleaning drive and using a new backup tape.

Convinced this is related to the RALUS agent since these are the only backups w/ issues. Should the buffer size be reconfigured as mentioned in this thread?

Hi,

Check whether the Redhat version you are using is listed in the SCL for the RALUS agent.

The link for SCL:

Symantec Backup Exec 10d (10.1) for Windows Servers - Software Compatibility List (SCL)

Just to ensure that its not a device related issue, try running the job to a Backup to Disk folder instead of the tape.
