Backup failing on Exchange Database

Hi

The backup is failing to backup the exchange database. The error is:

'Final error: 0xe00002fe - Cannot log on to MAPI with the specified credentials. Review the resource credentials for the job, and then run the job again'

The backups have been fine for over 3 years and no recent changes (to the backup) have been made.

All other areas of backup (user areas/shared areas) are backing up ok as per normal.

If you look this error up the answers don't seem to apply to this problem ......

Product is Backup Exec 12.5 on a 2008 server.

Any help / ideas much appreciated.

Have you changed the permission on the account that you were using to backup Exchange.

Make sure that account is not hidden from the GAL if you have recently made that change please revert it.

No the permissions / passwords on the backupexec account have not been changed

What is the version of Exchange that you are using??

May be you can try to uninstall the current MAPI/CDO from the Exchange server if it is Exchange 2007 and then reinstall the latest version o MAPI/CDO.

Also ensure that Backup Exec and the Remote Agent is updated too.
