Backup fails unexpectedly

Marco_Portunato

Our company's server runs Windows 2003 SP1 and BE 9.1 build 4691. Backup is done nightly on an Ultrium LTO1 100/200 GB unit.
Data to be backed up is approximately from 147 GB to 150 GB and back to 147 again
it has always worked flawlessly, saving up to 150 GB per session and never requesting the second tape to span archive.
One week ago the backup operation suddenly started to give problems: it stopped at 138 GB as if tape were full, requesting the second tape. if the second tape was fed into the tape unit, it did save something but after 1,5 GB it requests another tape.
The operating system is constantly updated with the automatic update service, BE has been updated with the patch solving the 'backup failure after restore' problem (I don't remember the patch no.) The hardware compression is on, data to be saved are partially compressed on the NTFS filesystem. Can anyone help me? Thks in advance

Hello,
Please check if you have the same problem with software compression, hardware compression is done by the tape drive. You may also clean the drive and tapes to check if it changes the performance. Also please check for read write errors on the tapes.
