I have a client running BackupExec 10d SP3 on Windows Small Business Server 2003 SP2. Recently, their backups have been failing and I have narrowed it down to the backup of the Exchange Mailboxes. If I deselect the Mailboxes the backup runs fine. Looking around the forum I discovered that many times this issue can be resolved by editing the following registry key and setting its value to 1:
HKey_Local_Machine\Software\VERITAS\Backup Exec\Engine\Exchange\Bypass MBox properties
Unfortunatly, this did not help the situation. I can find on errors in the backup logs related to this, and have noticed that the failed backup job logs shows "unexpected end of input" and are text-only. My client also experiences difficulty accessing e-mail while the backup of the Exchange Mailboxes is attempting to run.
I do not see anything in the Event Logs indicating a problem with Exchange.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
