Backup hangs on _SharedHardLinkData_ after verify

Hi,

Has anyone seen the below issue?

I am using Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3, with the latest LiveUpdate patches etc. It is backing up to a local LTO5 tape drive, and the server is running Windows 2008 Server R2.

The selection list is set to all fixed drives, System State and Shadow Copy Components.

The backup runs through without any obvious issue, the verify then goes through and completes.

However, at the point of the Verify finishing the job gets stuck.

The Job Activity reports that it is attempting to backup:

Source: System?State

Current Directory: \_SharedHardlinkData_

When reviewing the Job History, it shows that the Backup and Verify entries for each drive, system state and shadow copy have all finished.

Does anyone know why the job would go back to a backup of this file, post-verify and stick?

I've tested it twice with the same results.

I've run "vssadmin show writers" and all are showing as up and stable.

It is indeed.

I think I have however just found the problem.

There was an alert, tucked away that was requesting that the Media was removed and the message "OK'd"

As soon as that was done, it completed the job successfully.
