Backup job stalled

Hi All

I have a backup job which is running but no data transfers are taking place.

The Elapsed Time is incrementing but the Byte Count remain static.
The transfer rate is showing as 2.00mb/min when it is usually between 500mb and 2000mb.
The server being backed up is showing the beremore job reading data in task manager but the file sizes are not changing on the backup disks in file explorer or the media tab in BE. There is stacks of overwritable media.

I have applied windows updated to all servers oncerned but jobs have run since then and have progressed at the normal speeds.

Any ideas where to look next?

Thanks

Check whether you have any outstanding alerts that need to be respond to

Thanks pkh, there wer a few old alerts there.
They did not relate to this job but I OK'd them anyway.

No change in the job status; job still stopped.

Restart both servers and try the backups again.

Hi CraigV

I did try that but still no change.

Thanks

Are you backing up just one remote server or multiple in this job ?

On which specific backup resource is the backup stalled ? If you backup another resource from another server, does it progress normally ?

Check the event viewer of the BE media server & the remote server for any related events during the time of backup.

Just to add, I have disabled the anti virus on all three machines so not that either.

HI VJware

Checked event logs on all three servers; nothing out of the ordinary.

Thanks for your time

Not sure if this helps or not...
After rebooting both servers and restarting the job it ran for 9 minutes copying 800MB so it started off OK.

Wait a minute.... it has started again albiet only running at 20MB; I guess that is an average and it will climb.

Not sure what it was but I will probably close this thread shortly.

Thanks to all for your time and replies.

You can also check and make sure that any AV running on the server isn't perhaps actively scanning the beremote.exe process, and if so, put in an exclusion for it.

Thanks!

Thanks but all AV's disabled at the time.

Well as I said the job sprang into life and reached a peak rate of 1750MB/min.

All OK now but would love to know what it was; may never get to the bottom of it.

Looking at the history this does happen occasionally but normally when there is more than one backup running.
