Backup jobs from prior weeks overriding current jobs

We have a set of backup jobs that are scheduled to run each day of the week. Along with this, we have fours sets of media sets for each week's job. The problems that we are experiencing involve a past week's job running and overriding the scheduled job for that day. A full backup is performed every Thursday, and Friday through Wednesday incremental backups are performed. For example, a week 2, day 2 backup is scheduled to run on Friday mornings, but instead a week 4, day 6 backup job is performed, thereby overriding the properly scheduled backup. All backups within the four media sets are set to run according to a fixed schedule, and are setup withi a consistent timeline. For instance, week 1, day 1 is set to run every 28 days from an effective date of 2/16, and week 1, day 2 every 28 days from 2/17, and so forth. Even so, a backup from a prior media set runs on occasion.
