Backup stoppt nach ca. 270 GB von 400 GB

Hallo,

Hi Michael,

Make sure that Compression is turned on in the job. Try: Hardware, otherwise use Software. Hardware compression is better as it is done on the hardware and is independent of any server resources.

You might also want to download the Quantum tape utility to run a compression test against the tapes. Also, if you're not using the Symantec drivers for the drive, then run tapeinst.exe to install them!

Thanks!

There are a couple of reasons for this

1) your data is already compressed, so if you use hardware compression, you may end up with more data than you have started with.  See my article on this

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/compression-short-explanation

2) the tape is bad

3) the tape drive needs cleaning

4) the tape drive is bad.  You would need to run the manufacturer's utility against the tape drive.  Make sure that you select the write test and that you have stopped all the BE services beforehand.
