Backup to Disk Folder - Insufficient Disk Space Error

We're using BE 11d r7170 (Service Pack 3) on Windows Server 2003 and have only just begun to experience a problem with the Backup to Disk folder appearing to run out of disk space thus causing backup jobs to fail.

Backup-to-disk file management maximum size for backup-to-disk files is: 2GB
Allocate the maximum size for backup-to-disk files is selected.

Disk space management
Disk space reserve is selected with a size of 150GB set.

The way I understand how this works is that the backup is done by creating a temporary location for the job: IMGxxxxx folders and the backup is created from the folder.  The IMGxxxxx folders are overwritten as needed.  Am I getting that right?  Anyway, it seems the temp stuff is filling up the drive (?) and we're running out of space.  Any thoughts on what we might have to do to sort this or what might have caused a sudden change?

How big is the B2D where you are writing the data, also did you check if it is overwriting the IMG folders or not because it might not be overwritting and filling it.

Hi Mitch,

Are you sure your files are being overwritten? Easiest way is to check your Append/Overwrite periods and make sure that they are correct.
have you considered dedicating more space to that B2D folder as well?
How much are you backing up each night?

Laters!

@mitch - The problem which the img files are not being overwritten is resolved in BE 12.  See the document below

We have a 9TB NAS device split into two 4.5TB virtual drives. What are the recommended settings for at B2D folder (maximum file size, concurrent operations, disk space reserve, etc.)? Thanks.

@mmorgan - you should start a new discussion for your problem.
