Backup to remote server (backup Exec)

holy
Not applicable

Hi I was wondering if its possible to backup to a remote server (NOT ON THE SAME NETWORK), through Backup Exec?

I have a Synology NAS213 at home and I want to make backup to that location.

Can I use FTP to backup to my NAS, will backup exec accept something like (just an example):  ftp://188.179.180.190:21/backup

Or is there any way to do this at all?

Kind regards

Michael

Hi,

That is how you will do it...via UNC share. Just define a B2D folder on that NAS with \\IP_Address\ShareName.

BE won't backup to an FTP share.

Thanks!

...just to add...make sure that your NAS is shown as supported on the BE 2010 HCL below:

Thanks!

Make sure you have sufficient bandwidth and the line quality is good. If there are any dropped packets your job will fail
