Backup up Exchange 2013 having NO-DAG

I have backup exec 2013 SP 3 on Server 2008 - 64 bit

I have exchange 2013 cu3 having 2 CAS and 1 MBOX (All 3 mail servers are on Server 2012 Standard). I want to take backup of my exchange DBs. I dont have and DAG. Only a single server hosting all mailbox DBs. How should i add server and create a job to backup of all my DBs.

I know that BE 2012 dosent support GRT backup of Exchange 2013.

Should i just take backup of the DB folder and restore it ?

Hi,

Install the remote agent on the Exchange server in question and create a backup as per normal for BE 2012.

BE 2012 R2 (still not in Beta yet!) is supposed to address the GRT issue.

You can't backup the Exchange DB folder directly. If you do, then BE basically skips certain files due to Active File Exclusion.

Thanks!

Hello, Exchange 2013 with CU3 is still not supported with Backup Exec 2012 SP3. So far, Backup Exec 2012 with SP3 supports Non-GRT backup of Exchange 2013 with CU1. Refer to the Software Compatibility List of Backup Exec 2012 with Service Pack 3: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH175581 Exchange 2013 with CU3(with GRT backups) would be supported with Backup Exec 2012 R2. Hi,

Thanks for the response - this is just the reason I needed to ditch Backup Exec.

The god awful interface and removal of basic functionality had pushed me 99% of the way, but the fact I can no longer back up our Exchange infrastructure because you're two steps behind gets me over that symantec induced hurdle/ headache.

Cheerio!
