BackupExec 12.5 with FAS2040 NDMP ONTAP 8.0.3 7-Module

Hi guys,

We are setting up a new NetApp FAS2040 with CIFS shares and ONTAP 8.0.3 7-Module.

Would Backup Exec 12.5 be able to backup those CIFS shares?

I already have Remote Agent for Windows and Netware Servers License, can the same be used for the new FAS2040 and NDMP, or a different license must purchased.

Please advise asap.

Thanks.

You have to disable the ndmp daemon on the NetApp and/or change the NDMP port on the Backup Exec 12.5 media server in order to backup a CIFs share.

Additionally (and because of some changes in Ontap 8.0) you may have to use a software firewall rule on the media server to block outbound port 10,000 requests to the IP address of the NetApp, you will only know if you do need to do this extra step by trying it.

Thanks Colin, but can you explain more? BE 12.5 supports ONTAP 8.0.3 7-Module? I got to see this link: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH130680 If we disable the NDMP, how would we back up the FAS2040? what about the NDMP agent which seems to be available for purchase? Thanks.
