BackupExec 2010R2 shows Offline Tapelibraries while job runs

piet_engelen
Not applicable

Hello,

In short our situation of the BackupExec Environment:

- Windows 2008 R2 + BackupExec 2010 R2 (Latest hotfixes installed) VM ESX vSphere 4.1

- Tapelibrary Dell TL2000 connected on iSCSI

After starting a job the tape-libraries go offline after a short while.

I tried the Dell-drivers as well as the Symantec drivers, but both didn't solve this problem.

Is this a hardware compatibilty issue between the TL2000 and the HBA on the ESX host?

Is there anybody who can help me on this issue?

Kind regards,

Piet Engelen

...I seem to remember this is not a supported configuration from Symantec's side. If you get it working with an iSCSI tape library, whether or not Symantec support you afterwards with any issues is another story.

Best thing to start off with is to check the BE 2010 SCL and HCL, and see what it is supported as a media server...
