BackupExec causes 4818 SQL Login Event Log Error

Hi,

we use BackupExec version 9.1 to backup all our servers. We do not, however, use it to backup our MS SQL2000 databases on line. We do not even have the MS SQL options.

Despite this, every time BackupExec backs up the files on a server with MS SQL installed it logs the following error in the event log of that server:

Server: ServerName
Category: 0
Event: 57860
Severity: Error event
Source: Backup Exec
Time: 23:09:10 01/17/2005
Description:
An error occurred while attempting to log in to the following server: "ServerName".
SQL error number: "4818".
SQL error message: "Login failed for user 'DOMAIN\BackupExec Service Account'".

We also get a login failed message within the SQL Server logs. Why is BackupExec trying to log on to SQL Server when we have not specified it to backup any databases?

Does anyone have any ideas how I can stop this. It is not a major issue but we do have a lot of SQL servers and it would be nice not to be bombarded with alert mails every morning.

Thanks.

The following Event ID was found in the application log :

In the event viewer, Event ID: 57860 "An error occurred while attempting to log in to the following server... SQL error number: "0011"" is seen when backing up a server with SQL installed.
