BackupExec need Vray license to restore complete VM ?

I am using windows 2008R2 on ESXi server version 5.0. vcenter server is also in place with ESXi server. I have two virtual machines. one have oracle installed and second have microsoft sql server. I want to take complete virtual machine backup and also want to restore complete virtual machine. I dont want granular virtual machine restore. Should I need vray license ?

Hi,

V-Ray is essentially a licensing bundle...you should get the same functionality by licensing the VMware agent only.

If you have a lot of VM's with lots of applications and databases, then the V-Ray edition will save you a bundle.  With the V-Ray edition, you get an unlimited number of Agents for Applications and Databases licences.

In your case, it might not be economical to get the V-Ray edition.  However, in addition to the core BE, you would still need to get the AVVI licence to backup your VMware host.

One more benefit: I can get unlimited backup (its not terabyte base licensing) ? correct ?

Yes. The is no limit on the amount of days that you can backup with the V-Ray edition
