Backupexec 10D - problem compressing

Running backupexec 10d (with Service pack 3) for some reason all jobs that are over 40GB does not succed. There is a sony SDX-450V tape device that support 40GB/80GB compressed. I have been in contact with sony and tried to run a utility tool to test the device. The utility also manage to compress over 40gb so the compression should work. In the backup job hardware compression is enabled and have tried to re-create the job once again, but same result. What can be wrong ?

Is there an alert asking for a second tape?  If there is, then you have to put in an overwriteable tape for the job to complete.

To confirm whether hardware compression is used in the job, check the job log.

Just for grins try a run with Software Compression only.  Do you get any at all?

Perhaps your data is non-compressible?
