Backups failing

When attampting to take backups up VM servers using the VMWare agent I get the following error unless I have Open File selected.

0xe0009541 - Could not connect to the vCenter server or ESX server. Please verify the credential supplied for login.

Has anyone else seen this error?  This is on Backup Exec 2012 fully patched.

I presume ESX version you have is supported as 5.1 if you are using is not supported

We are running version 5.  When I enable AOFO teh jobs run but I get the error:

Final error: 0xe000959a - An attempt to take a snapshot of a virtual machine failed because it was unable to quiesce an application.

@Mike, I get the same thing on any ESX hosts that have exchange or SQL as guests. Any host that is a file/print/web or basic application-server runs fine. I am running 5.1 on my VMware clusters so the problem is not unique to 5.0.
