Backup Exec V10 V10.0 Rev 5520

The most ive managed is 4 days of backups with out a failure. But when it fails, it fails with the same errror in Backup Exec.
Storage device "HP 1" reported an error on a request to write data to media.
Error reported:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
V-79-57344-34029 - A hardware error occurred

I then get an Event ID 33152, 57665 and 65313 in the event log.

Have spoken to HP with regards to the drive and run the Library and Tape Tools on the drive. This showed no errors on the drive or card.

Backups failed on Friday evening, so re-ran the job yesterday and the backup worked. Left it to run over night and it failed.
What little hair i have left on my head is vanishing fast!!!

Hello,

This error: Final error code: 0000045d HEX, Final error description: The
request could not be performed because of an I/O device error - appears to
be a hardware related issue. We suggest you refer the technote given below
for the resolution.
Title: -"The error message "Error on a request to space to end of data. The
request could not be performed because of an I/O error" is reported in
VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 7.x, 8.x or 9.x when attempting any media
operation."
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/191694.htm
If the backup device is connected to IDE interface, refer the technote
given below.
Title: -"The error message "The request could not be performed because of
an I/O device error" is reported when performing a backup operation using
an IDE tape drive."
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/191896.htm
{Applies to 10.0}
Further, perform back with Windows 2000's native backup utility NTBackup
and verify the outcome.
