Backups over Fiber-Query

Hi Community members,

Presently iam using Backupexec 2012 for Backups with remote agents installed on all servers

Iam looking for possible configuration for my backups to run over fiber.I have the following licenses

1.Backupexec Enterprise server.
2.Backupexec server Licenses.
3.Backupexec Agent for Windows
4.Backupexec agent for Application and Databases.
5.Backupexec VTL Licenses.

Backupexec can see the Physical Tapelibrary and VTL(HP D2D)

Other servers can also see the same library and VTL (SAN Zoning was performed)

Iam looking for proper configuration steps on what to install and where.

Where to configure backup jobs?

Thanks in advance..

There are only 4 ways to backup over fiber using Backup Exec and all 4 might need extra licenses and a specific topology/environment in order to work.

a) Make the server that owns the data be a media server with a fiber card in it (using SSO capability with multiple media servers if multipe servers hold the data)

b) Use the ESO license with the Off-Host capability (which is only supoported to protect certain types of data and MUST use specific storage hardware as discussed on our compatibility lists

c) Have the servers virtualized in VMware and use SAN Transport from the Datastore to the media server and then out to the Fiber attached library

d) Use an NDMP Option Compatible NAS/Filer with a Fiber attached library hanging off it.

You cannot do fiber/SAN backups with just a remote agent and no other specialist configuration.
