Bacup Exec Not completeing.

Hi there,

I'm Sure you can all remeber, the problems i have been having.

Let me explain.

Ok now the backup job for eacvh night never completes and hangs in a queued state, after checking the logs in alert in says to insert an overwritable media.

I am using a sony-sdx 50c 10 tape changer.

I have it set to use 2x 50gb/130gb tapes.

Now my full complete backup is about 138gb each night.


Now I think that what it is not doing is compressing the data, it spans across 2 tapes, then asks for the 3rd and because i do not have it setup to use 3 tapes it then queues and gives me the alert message to insert another tape.


In the backup template for the compression i have it set to use hardware if available otherwise software.


This is a constant problem.

Is there any reasons why it might not be compressing the data or am i way of and it is somthing else.

Please advise.

Hi Chris,

-Is any Database or database files getting backedup ?
-Try performing the same backup with Compression Method : " Software "

Hi There, Last night, i removed some drives to back up so it was not backing up as much data, and i also changed it to backup the exchange first then the fs, dc, isa. after checking the it has completed, showed in a queued state with "the directory is invalid".


I tried the backup with compression as software only but was the same problem. I think it is possible now it is compressing the data its just there is to much even when compressed.


also now when i try to view the log it says it can not open it as it is in use?
