Hi.
Any idea why BEServer.exe is constantly trying to access "deploy.akamaitechnologies.com". LiveUpdate is not installed on the server so this could not be the cause.
Any suggestions how can this can be stopped (the attempt is blocked by our firewall anyway).
Thanks.

It is a year old but see

Just noticed that you do not have LiveUpdate installed. akamai is used by many software companies, not just Symantec

That's true, however beserver.exe is the process which is trying to reach the internet.
So I'm really interrested why Symantec is trying to reach the internet every few minutes when no updates are involved.
Cheers.

Backup Exec does generate an alert when an update is available, which may be completely independent of whether you have the Symantec Live Update thing installed on the server.
Not sure why it would be trying to access it so often though. Are you permitting or blocking the access? If you're blocking it, then it might just be retrying periodically until it succeeds.

Hi.
Yes we are blocking access.
There is no point for a backup server to access the internet IMHO.
It should be possible to conofigure BE to completely omit accessing the Internet.
Cheers.
