Hello

We want to set up a tape backup (Full/incremantal), that each incremental backup will start a new tape and will not appned to the current tape (and never overwrite)

What is the best way to configure it? on the Media Set? on the job settings?

Thanks

Do you have an autoloader or tape library? You can partition these into 2: 1 partition holding tapes for the full backup, and the 2nd for tapes holding the INCR. Then just remove tapes.

If a stand-alone tape just ensure a tape is available.

That setting above should work though.

Thanks!

The media set's Append/OPP settings will dictate how long data is held for. The job itself tells BE what to do with the tape. Simply make sure a tape is available that can be written too.

Read up on the append/OPP settings below:

Thanks

But how can i set the job to use a new tape instaed of appending?

If i set the Media Set to "Appen Period of 1 hour" and "Don't Allow overwrite"

And i set the Job to "When this job begin - Overwrite Media" so BE will check and will see that the media set don't allow overwrite, and than it will go and grab a new tape from the SCRATCH media?

Thanks
