Bypass Overwrite Protection Period?

I was wondering if it is possible to bypass an overwrite protection period on a tape?  It was used as an initial backup when the system was first installed, but doesn't contain any relevant data and is overwrite protected for 8 more months.

Go to the media tab. Look for the media in the corresponding media set and move the media to "scratch media" media set by drag and drop. This will make the media overwritable. This is a manual way of removing overwrite protection. Media in "scratch media" media set are overwritable.

Please mark it a solution, if this is useful.
