CAS Licensing

Hi,

Hope someone can help me clarify

I have a 2 backup servers running as follow:

- BK01 - CAS + V-Ray => backing up vcenterserver + managing Managed server (BK02)

- BK02 - Managed server => backing up 3 x physical server (3 agents) + BK02 itself

All jobs defined on CAS and one of the jobs is for backing up BK02

Each backup server has its own local storage.

my questions are:

1. Do I need another physical agent for Backup2 on Backup1 CAS?

2. Does Backup server need an agent to backup itself?

Thanks!

You can ignore this error message.  This is a known problem which is corrected in BE 15 if I recall correctly.

No to both questions.  When you load BE onto a server, a remote agent is automatically loaded along with it.  This is to protect the media server.  Also, the core BE licence comes with a remote agent licence to protect the media.  All this is true even if you are not using CASO.

Thanks pkh,

Everytime the backup finised, there is a warning message :

"When V-Ray Edition is installed it does not cover protection of physical machines unless enough agent licenses have been purchased. It appears that you have exceeded the number of licenses for your Backup Exec environment. Review your license and maintenance contract informaton on the Backup ExecHome tab"

I have agent licenses for the physical servers x 3 + BK02 managed server.

I don't know why it is saying not enough licenses.

Thanks!
