Can BE 12.5 read LTO4 tapes written on BE 2010 (R3)

I'm running Backup Exec v12.5 and being supplied LTO4 tapes from another company that were created on Backup Exec 2010 (R3). Can anyone confirm that I will be able to catalog and then restore the data on these tapes using v12.5, despite the data being written by a newer version of the software?

These are normal Backup Exec tape backups, not a TAR.

You can try, but there is no guarantee because BE 2010 may write new things onto the tapes which BE 12.5 cannot understand.
