Can I restore if the second tape is missing? (one backup job with two tapes)

The data doesn't not fit into one tape and it was appended to the second tape.  The problem I am facing is that the second tape was over written.

Can I still able catalog the first tape and restore the data from it?

Yes.  You can. When you do your catalog, uncheck the request media in sequence option and “Use storage media-based catalogs” option.

to qualify pkh's answer you can as long as it is a standard file system backup job - if it is something like an Exchange or VMware agent job then no you will not be able to restore.
