Can anyone explain these rather variable de-dupe ratios:
http://www.picpaste.com/Dedupe_ratios-5EYfQ7BK.png
This is a full backup of the same 1.5GB of data been performed five times one after the other. The first 1.3:1 is the initial backup and shows there was a little bit of duplication in there. But the others are:
1303.9:1
507:1
5320:1
1833:1
This is the same data been backed up each time so the de-duplication is total, i.e. every single 64k block should already be in the database.
Should not the de-duplication ratio be at least the same each time?
