Can someone recommend good NAS choices for Backup Exec 2012

Hi All,

Our company recently purchased a Western Digital MyCloud device (what a mistake). We have given up on backing up data from this device. We would like to move to a NAS solution but are very unsure of which brand and model to go with. For anybody using a NAS to backup from (onto external usb drives), could you please let me know which brand and model number of NAS that you have and what you do and don't like about it? I'm leanings towards a Synology brand NAS but they make a bunch of different models. We would like to stay around the $500 price (without drives) but would be willing to spend up to $800 if the jump in budget buys a much better product.

Thanks for any advice. Bye

Your best bet is to consult the BE 2012 HCL below and see what is supported.

You can then check on reviews of the device you are looking at.

The HCL doesn't list backup sources, it lists backup destinations. with the exception of the Overland SnapServer DX series.  It is listed down in the "NAS Sources" section.  The advantage the SnapServer has is the Backup Exec Remote Agent is installed.  Having the Remote Agent installed lets you do incremental backups instead of only being able to do full backups.
