Can't restore GRT data from VMed Exchange

Hi all,

We just got to backup this VMed Exchange 2010 SP1 (on VMware 5) with Backup Exec 2012 SP1. Backup Job is fine and no errors so far.

However, my customer needs to restore some messages from a Mailbox now but errors show within the Job Logs and the Exchange Mailbox Server.

I have opened a Symantec Support Ticket number 418209630.

We can restore messages if using the backups set which were done using the RAWS agent but not from the AVVI Agent.

I just got a long but interesting call with Symantec. It seems like BE 2012 does not like Exchange CAS and Mailbox roles on different servers.

The workaround is to restore those items through the CAS server by redirecting the restore. And it seems it was documented but for BE 2010 R3.

Hope it helps for anybody with the same issue.

Is exchange on standalone server or different roles are installed on different servers i.e: CAS, Mailbox?
