Can't restore from"successful" backup

Level 4

Did a full server backup the other night (using BE12), and now I can't restore a file from it.  I have spent 6 hours messing with this, including 4 hours on the phone with Symantec, and after all that time they have come up with the answer:  the backup set is damaged.  (There's 4 hours of my life I'll never get back - or get paid for!)


When we try to restore, the job finishes successfully, except it states "0 FIles, 0 bytes"


Has anyone ever gotten any help from them when a backup set is damaged?  There must be somethig they can do, some utility you can download to re-parse the contents in some way.


We have tried a number of different things, like re-cataloging the device and the media sets, and everything shows up as Successful, except that the files aren't accessible.
