Cannot Add a Linux Server at Backup Exec 16

HelloHello
Level 4

Hi All,

Can somebody help me? It's my first time in a linux environment.

I have to a backup a Rhel 7.3 Linux using Backup Exec 16 (resides in Windows 2012 R2 Standard).

1. Linux agent was installed at the Rhel 7.3 server

2. But when adding the linux server at Backup Exec, there is an error. (Please see attached)error.jpg

I can ping the linux server from the backup exec server. I also use the IP Address of the linux server when addung it ti BE Server.

Hoping for all the support.

Ok so you need to check that the ralus daemon has started on the linux host ( info here http://www.veritas.com/docs/100006524 )

and you also need to check that that appropriate inbound firewall rules have been enabled on the Software Firewall (iptables) within Red Hat on the Linux host (info here http://www.veritas.com/docs/100017670 )

Can you telnet from BE server to Linux server (by NAME and FQDN) against Port 10000? (Note by default Microsoft no longer installs Telnet - but it is available within the operating system installer - so you may need to add it, and make sure you open the command prompt to start telnet as Admin)

And can you also telnet from the Linux system to the BE server on port 6101 (assuming a telnet command exists on the Linux system)

@Colin_Weaver thanks for the advise. i will try to check this one. i would like to ask, why port 6101 (from linux to BE server) ?

the linux server is not joined to the domain, is it OK?

can you please check the linux agent installation log for any problems.

@Colin_Weaver

From the backup server I 'telnet [target server ip address] 10000' i get message 'Could not open a connection to host on port 10000: Connect failed

how to open the connection?

While on the otherhand, i can telnet the BE server on port 6101 from the Linux server, it says that it is connected to backup server.

Hello,
Many times I have this problem.
Probaly internal firewall of the Linux is on.
Try this comand iptables - nvL
IF The firewall is on some line appear, turn off The firewall on Linux ok. I think service iptables stop do it, or search at Google how to disable a firewall on this Red Hat release.

Thank you for the advises.

My problem was solved. By default firewall was enabled at the Linux server.

By disabling it, it works.
