We have a client who previously ran version 15 of Backup Exec. This started failing and so we removed and uninstalled it (ended up having to do this manually as the uninstall failed) and now we cannot install the 20.4 trial.
This is before purchasing as our client wants to confirm it will in fact work.
I attach a screenshot of the error and the install log. It would appear somewhere on the system is a reference to the below:
The product detected. PID: {CB639F34-57DC-4413-9762-C4450D5E1262} and means that version 20.4 wants to upgrade rather than install a fresh copy.
Thank you for your help.
Adrian.

You should be able to search the registry for that GUID
I would suggest you export out the registry before deleting anything.
See if this tool detects the older version.

We have searched the registry and also files containing that GUID. Deleted them all we believe.
I called Veritas support to see if they could help but was told that unless we bought the product we would not get support.
Our client, on the other hand, wants to see the product trialled and running before they pay for it.
Catch 22 so we may use Backup Assist and Veritas have lost a sale.
