Hi,
I am recataloging a tape backup after having to follow the instructions here: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH142684
However it seems to be going excessively slow. After 10 Min of Cataloging it has only done 579KB of a 1.19TB backup. Is this something that I should be concerned about? Or is the backup size not related to the catalog size and everything is functioning just fine?
Thanks.

...what sort of data is it cataloging?
Lots of small files?
Thanks!

Is this just one tape or several?
Unchecking the Storage Based Media option will result in longer catalog time since it is reading the data on the tape file by file to build the new catalog. see also: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH6164

Cataloging Lots of small files office documents, PDF's etc. Should I be worried this is going to take months to finish? Or is the byte count not indicative of how long this is going to take? This is just one tape. Also yes because I had to follow the instructions in the link, I did have to uncheck that checkbox, there was just no other way around it.

Give it an hour and see what happens, but report back with an update either way.
Thanks!

Hmm, the catalog failed at 11.2 MB. Which brings me back to my original problem that I was trying to resolve using the link I put in my first post.

I am attempting this solution here:
http://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/catalogs-do-not-finish
However still a low cataloging speed issue... I'm used to speeds around 3200MB/min when performing a backup.
