Catalog deleted affecting job history?

Hello everyone,

I am a bit confused on the right answer and want to be sure before i make any statements. Unfortunately we do not have a test enviorment.

A catalog was lost 6 moths ago, and we believe that no one did catalog the tapes again or only few of the tapes got catalogued.

Job history and logs are set at 400 days, i can see everything that happened 400 days ago.

Questions:

When the catalog got lost, did the history and logs got deleted too (or a part of it)?

Does the catalog have effect in any way on the job history and logs (other than creating an entry and log)?

Does cataloging of tapes have any effect on the job history and job logs other that creating an entry at the end of catalog job?

Hello

Deletion of catalogs should have no effect on the job history and job logs.

It would depend on the setting for job log anf job history which is under:

Backup Exec Settings> DataBase Maintainance and Security and in here you can set the number of days you can preserve the job log and job history.
