Catalog takes many days

Hi,

we use Backup Exec 20.3.1188 and Dell Datadomain [DD6300, 6.1.2.20] with deduplication enabled. It so happened that a few backups, including 14TB full backup, disappeared from the recovery menu. So we started cataloging and it has been lasting for 8 days already.

I have a few questions:
- why is it taking too long? how can I reduce cataloging time?
- in properties I see, that nothing is cataloging right now. Why the job has not been completed?
- can I cancel the catalog job manually?

There is no way to speed up a catalog operation. It needs to run for as long as it takes to catalog that information and put it back into the BEDB. You can cancel it, but then you're left with incomplete catalogs meaning you might not be able to restore all of your data...leading you to run the catalog operation again.
