Cataloging 400GB legacy tape shows Byte Count of 10 Terabytes

I've got a stack of legacy LTO2 400GB tapes from a previous office.  Some of them Catalog fine, with normal byte counts and job times.  At least half of them when cataloged show byte counts in the 10 Terabyte range and the catalog jobs are lasting several hours...

What I know:

Catalogs running on BUE 12 Rev. 1364

What I don't know:

The version of BUE that the tapes were created on.

For example the current job is running at 53,472 MB/Min and has been running for 2 hours.  The only thing I can think of is that BUE is Cataloging all of the backups ever written to this tape.  But completed inventory only shows one backup cycle.

Any thoughts on this?  I have 75 tapes that I need to catalog by Friday and at 4 hours a tape......do the math.

Thanks!

This is going to sound dumb... and i am sure its too little to late... but

have you renamed the catalog directoty for BE?

I am seeing the same kind of problem.  This is with an MSL2024 and a HP 1/8 Autoloader, both with BE 12.0/patched.  Tapes don't show the correct count, I've had some how like 700+ TB for a single 400/800LTO-3 tape.

It's just screwed up it seems.
