Change language of BackupExec Retrieve

Marc_Lalonde

Hello,

We have a bilingual environment. All of our servers are installed in English, and all our workstations are in French.

On a BackupExec 2010 R3 server (installed in English), I installed BackupExec Retrieve with the File Server and Exchange Archive options.

All archiving tests went great, it works perfectly.

However, I can't seem to get the French web page for the Retrieve utility.

How do I change the web utility from English to French ??

Thanks,

Marc

Thanks RahulG,

But the Backup exec console isn't my concern in this thread. I was only comparing the registry language change procedure because I thought something similar could be done with the Retrieve web site. Apparently not.

However, I did notice that re-installing Retrieve from the DVD, but this time choosing "French" instead of "English" at the start of the installation procedure, kind of worked :

Now when I head to https://server_hosting_Retrieve/BeRetrieve the URL automatically changes to https://server_hosting_Retrieve/BeRetrieve/FR/BeRetrieveFR.aspx

That is ..... in Internet Explorer 8.... it doesn't work in Firefox (haven't tried other browsers), it stays in English.

But still, most if not all users have IE8 so my problem is almost fixed and I'm closing the thread.

I don't think this is possible. Probably if you install in French this might be possible, however, not 100% sure on this.

I found a thread about changing the root Backup Exec console's language (can't find the link right now) and it showed how to change a registry key from EN to FR (or DE or ES or whatever).

I imagined something similar to change BackupExec Retrieve's web page language.

Also, looking in the Retrieve installation directory, there are many language sub-directories... I'm sure the answer lies therein...

Backup exec console gets installed as part of backup exec installation , or you if you want you can install it on a different machine to remotely access your backupexec server. the console setting can be chaged via registry(

What you could do is simply create a registry key under this path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Veritas\Backup Exec

Create a string value key named Language and put the entry as EN there. For example if you have Backup Exec installed in German and want the BE to be in English then you could add EN there and vice-versa .

Close the BE console and then open it again after the registry changes.

Note: Export the registry to a different location.)

On the otherhand Beretrive is a hosted on webserver (IIS is used in the background), it is not a application which we install , but we configure it over the webserver.
