Change name/IP of server being backed by BE2012

Change name/IP of server being backed by BackExec 2012 and want to know how I can update Backup Exec server? I would like to keep all the old backups and jobs just update the name and IP of the target. Thanks!

You cannot change the name/IP address of a remote server and then move the backups of the old name/IP address to the renamed server.  If the new name/IP address has not been automatically added to BE, then you have to manually add it.  You would then have two sets of backups; one with the old name/IP address and the other with the new name/IP address.  Slowly, the backup sets for the old name/IP address will expire and be overwritten.  Once these are gone, you can remove the old name/IP address.
