Check backup tape

Is there a way to check the validity of a backup tape?  I am running Backup Exec version9.1 and I am having problems with the tape ejecting.  I want to check to see what is on the tape, when it was created and what is missing from the tape.  I don't see any way to do it in the software right now.

To see what is on a tape
Insert the tape
Inventory

then using that information, go to the Restore Selections pane and select media view, find the volume and the contents will be listed

To ccheck the valididy of the tape, mount it, from the devices tab, right click it and select Verify

I am having problems with the tape ejecting

Is this at the beginning of the job, or after some data has been written?
Append job or Overwrite

I believe it is ejecting when it hits an error with SQL.  I have an event 17055, with an error code 18278 Database Log Truncated Database:a2salescsm.

I wanted to check the tape to find out if anything is really on it.

Just getting the SQL error should not eject the tape

if the tape fills up, BE will eject it and post an alert asking for an overwriteable tape
