I had a few questions about GRT after reading the BE12 guide:
- For GRT, BE creates a special media IMG which stores the granular data logically in the same form as SharePoint views it. Does it mean that if I need to backup the farm (for disaster recovery) and also need to have granular recoveries enabled, then BE will take space equivalent to "space required for backup of full farm" plus (+) "space required to create IMG media which contains granular data"?
- Also, in the documentation it mentions that the max file size of backup-to-disk file can be 4 TB. Does it mean that if total size across all my recovery points exceed 4 TB then I cant have GRT over all the recovery points? Another option may be to transfer the older recovery points to tape. In the case of tape, can we browse the recovery point to see if the required document is there or not (before moving them to disk). Also, wont the recovery from tape be slower and also need a staging area on disk?
