Compress Data Backup

Hi All,

One of our Customer place we have to Backup Compress Data through Backup Exec 2012. I just want to confirm that Symantec Support Compress Data Backup or not or after Backup

After backup is completed we can assured to Restore data.

Are you inquring if you can backup already compressed data or do you want to compress the backup made by Backup Exec ?

If former, yes, you can backup such data, however bear in mind, this can may be re-hydrated...

If latter, you can opt for software compression ( done by Backup Exec ) or hardware compression ( done by the hardware device)...if using hardware compression, data is first backed up & compressed after on the hardware during write..

Yes you can backup the compressed the file which has been compressed by 3rd party software & you can backup that with backup exec & that is supported. We should be able to restore the file back.

Unfortunately there is no as such document on same, but it is supported you can do backup.
