Connect to Media Server

Hello



How are you???



There is a problem in my VERITAS which ask me for a connection to the media server, which is the server where I run it.

Even if I entered the Administrators password for this server or not it says:
"The Backup Exec Server System service is not responding. The service is either not running or not installed", and When i try to start the servives the program tries to but without any results.



What can I do ??? and how can I restore my server's status????

- Can you please give us the Exact Error message?
- What is the selection that you are backing up?
- Under which account are your services running?
- Are you getting this problem with a freshly installed software? Or were you using the Software since long, and the error is occuring recently?
- If recently, were any changes made to the system after the installation?
- Can you also explain your Environment a bit?

The main problem was when my Tape drive became suddenly "Offline", and here is my first post about the main problem :

When I tried to check it on my VERITAS which I run it on my network since about 2 years it gave me the "Conect to Media Server" problem as soon as I run the software using the Administrator's account.

Here is the messages:

1- When I run the software

3- when I choose to start all services on ISA-MGMT it still in the loop

- If recently, were any changes made to the system after the installation?

No, we did not make any changes or install any software on the server.


- Can you also explain your Environment a bit?
*ISA Server (Which has the tape backup and used to manage all servers backup)
*Exchange Server
*DB Server
*Web Server
*2 Active Directory Server.






Actually, It seams that I will reinstall the windows with all the software on it, but if I did I will lose all my backup information and Jobs, also I wanna ask if it would be easy to reconnect to the clients or not???

Hi




The problem remain as it is, which is some services are already stopped and cannot be restarted or start again.



Can any one know how to fix it ??

Even the repair of the software can not be done.

Read the following your problem sounds similar to mine and this is how I solved it. Go to the link and read that as well and make sure it is the exact problem you are facing before you attempt to fix it.



The problem I was experiencing was due to an APC Smart-UPS software. The issue is caused by the Sun Java Runtime Environment certificate expiring. This caused the 2 APC services (APC PBE Agent, APC PBE Server) to fail on server reboot. This caused all other services on the server to fail to start. To solve the problem the APC PowerChute Business Edition software needs to be uninstalled and the upgraded version of the software installed.
