I got a connectin error:

V-79-57344-65072 - The connection to target system has been lost. Backup set cancelled.

This happened during the verify stage and I have never seen this before. Anyone have any ideas??

I did look up the error code, but error is attached to Exchange servers. We do NOT run Exchange on our network.

It looks like maybe the connection dropped somewhere. I would rerun the job and see if the problem repeats itself.

Initially we would suggest you please refer the following technote link as it describes you about Verify operation and reasons why verify process has to be initiated.

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/245177.htm

Also we would suggest you please refer the following technote links too,

Title:- An error "The connection to target system has been lost. Backup set canceled." is reported in the job log but does not contain information about the drive where the error is occurring.

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/254865.htm

Title:- "A communications failure has occurred" (a000fe30 HEX or e000fe30 HEX) is reported during a failed backup job

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/255814.htm

We hope this helps. Let us know if the problem still exists and revert back with the error message.

Make sure "Remote agent service " is up and running under "LSA" local system account. Also check the build version of remote agent , it should be same as media server build.

I would suggest:
Recreate the "selection list" or simply create a new job for mondays backup and check the result.

BEWS 10.0 SP1 has released, Go ahead and appy that.

I am getting this error as well. Specifically:
"e000fe30 - A communications failure has occurred."

This is extremely frustrating as it is something I have been working on for two days. Initially, we were running 8.6. I completely uninstalled that and installed version 10.0. We are NOT RUNNING EXCHANGE on the network, and there are no Remote Agents to be concerned with. None of the recommended fixes I found have worked.

Also, this looks like an issue that has been unresolved for some time (several versions now). Confusion and frustration about this is evident all over the Veritas site. Can we please get a someone to give a clear answer as to what is causing this error?

We also have this problem - happens when we try to backup system state on a remote server using remote agent.
Backup- \\QUEENSGATE_SERV\System?State V-79-57344-65072 - The connection to target system has been lost. Backup set canceled.

Just like all the other people here, we do not have an exchange server so the problem isn't with the M: drive!

Please help??
Thanks a lot!
