Consoliadating Backup Exec Full and Incremental Backups

Peter_Sheridan

Hello,

Is it possible to consolidate full and incremental backup exec images?

For example, say a full backup was done on the 1st of the month, and then incrementals for the next 30 days, can those incrementals be consolidated into the full backup?

Thanks

Peter Sheridan

I guess you are referring to Synthetic Backup method

Refer to Pg# 1048 of BE2012 Admin guide.

What has BESR got to do with the question?

Note that synthetic backups are not applicable for all backups, e.g. VM backups *EDIT* BE 2012 does consolidate the various backups during restores. See the blog below https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/simplified-restore-workflow-be-2012 *END EDIT*

Thanks Everyone. Looks like the Synthetic Backup method is part of the Enterprise Server Option. Something I don't currently have. At least i know its a option now though :)
