Correct procedure to migrate BE15 to new server

Hi,

What is the correct procedure to migrate old BE 15 installation from old server to new server?

Old server is server 2008 R2 and new server 2012 R2. Storage is HP storeonce deduplication storage.

I'm thinking doing like this. Is this right way to go?

1. Stop BE services from old server.

2. Install BE 15 with latest updates to new server

3. Connect HP storeonce deduplication storage

4. Invetory and catalog

Does inventory bring back the servers to All Servers view?

Do I need to create jobs manually?

After invertory and catalog can I restore older data if needed?

Also in new server the domain and admin account is different. Not sure if that affects something or not?

Using your technique you won't be able to pull the jobs and selection lists in. They're contained in the BEDB on the old server.

I'd recommend upgrading the current media server to BE 15 first as this makes things easier when migrating.

Then read the article below on how to migrate BE to a new server:

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.TECH67768

Once done, you can use BEutility.exe to change the BE service account to the new domain account.

Thanks!

I followed the article.

Now in new server I cannot get StoreOnce deduplication storage online. It says Offline; This device ahs not been discovered correctly. IP and credential are correct. I can ping the storage.

HP ost plugin is installed to new server and server rebooted. StoreOnce appliance accepts all clients.

I can see the properties tab of the storage

How to get it back online?

I got the storage back online on new server.

Now I can't see any old backup sets to restore? Should it be there automatically?
