Could not specify Append period op zero days for tapes media

A_O_
Level 3

Hello,

Append period could not be specified on zero days for a tape media in BackupExec version 16. The minimal append period can be set only minimal on 1 hour but not zero, see attachment.

How Append period can be set op zero days for a tape media in BackupExec version 16?

Thanks for the help in advance!

If you set all your jobs that use the media set so that append is not a start choice within the jobs then you cannot append anyway. You could take this one step further and set the job defaults so that append at start is not a default so that any new jobs also will not append.

Also - unless the first job that uses the tape finishes in less than 1 hour then setting 1 hour will mean the tape is, except on very rare occasions,  not going to be appendable

Note: unlike overwrite protection timings the append timings do not move - they are set during the overwrite of a tape and expire based on that time (overwrite expiration timings keep moving as you write data to the tape)
