Couple of DLO Questions

Kelly_Harper

I am researching the DLO product in preparation for enterprise deployment and have a few questions:

1. Has anyone installed the DLO agent on a workstation image and if so, are there any issues to consider with sysprep? We've had some products break after sysprep so I would like to verify whether or not DLO falls in that category.

2. Does anyone have any information about how often DLO polls for policy changes and the bandwidth impact of say 600 agents polling on the network?

3. Is there a registry key where the global exclusions are stored that can be used to quickly setup DLO admin servers?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

- Could you please elaborate on how often the DLO polls for policy changes.

- It depends upon the replication or backup settings that are configured for dlo

- The bandwidth affected will depend on the bandwidth set in the 'User Bandwidth settings ' of the general tab f the profile properties and the time interval that is set under the schedule tab of the profile properties..

- There is no registery key for global exclusion..

Thank you very much for the answers above. On the last question, has Symantec successfully tested the DLO agent with SYSPREP to verify that nothing breaks? Are there any pre-SYSPREP steps that need to be considered for the DLO agent?

Hello,

Could you please elaborate more about sysprep?

Certain programs hold settings in the registry or other locations that specifically need to be removed to put the application in a "just installed state" before running SYSPREP. Other applications simply break after SYSPREP is run.

As we are getting ready to roll this product out Enterprise wide, we are performing preliminary research to verify whether or not there are any special steps to consider before adding the agent to our workstation image.

I am still waiting to hear back about the research that Symantec has done with DLO and SYSPREP.

Hi,

There are no known issues reported after installing the software and running
sysprep.
However there could be some conflicts between SYSPREP and MSDE. Since it has not been specifically tested on BE, we suggest you to run it first on a test server, which has BE installed on it.
